In English class we cover several vocabulary words each week. We also do lots of writing, annotating, brainstorming, and SVG packets (Spelling Vocabulary Grammar).

For this project, we had to create a board game based on the history and English curriculum studied this whole year. We had to plan a game board that will test players' knowledge of the English topic and the history unit. We were also able to use the internet, our history packets of work, history book and other materials studied as a class for our resources. I decided to put this activity on my website, because you can apply skills and knowledge in unique and creative ways.
Connotations

For this activity everyone had to pick a word from a hat and find the person that has the same meaning as your word. For example if someone had the words woman and chick, they would go together. After we found our partner we had to answer a series of questions that follow. We learned that a connotation is an idea or feeling that a word quotes in addition to its exact or primary meaning. We also learned about denotation (the opposite of connotation), which means the literal or primary meaning of a word, in contrast to the feelings or ideas that the word suggests. For example the word "Homework." People often have a different feeling when it comes to homework, some people love it, others don't care to much about it. Connotation, then, refers to the emotions and associations attached to words that may not necessarily reflect the proper definition as the example shown above. From this activity I learned that when you talk to people: in person, by text, e-mail, or on social media sites, you have to watch our for what you say, because you may say something, but somebody may think you meant something else and take it the wrong way. I chose to put this activity on my website, because this happens all around the world and people don't even notice I, when they should.

Quia Games The image to the right is a game called CAN YOU SPOT IT!, on Quia. com. On this game, you have to find examples of the following grammar terms: nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. It's one of the best games in the world, because each time you get the correct answer, you earn 2,000 dollars. You can earn up to as much as 1,000,000 dollars. Wait there's more, you can also create activities, quizzes, calendars, and surveys on Quia.com. You can also check your grades, quiz results, and activity results. I learned a lot on Quia, and it's a fun way to learn. The reason I decided to put this activity on my website is, because I learned how to us objective pronouns and possessive pronouns correctly by simply playing a game.

Vocabulary Game This is a prefix and suffix game that is very funny. This is how the game goes, our teacher assigned us groups of four such as spades, diamonds, and hearts. Then she calls two people from each group to a hot seat. One person acts out the prefix or suffix given by the teacher and the other sits in the hot seat and tries to figure out the word the person is acting out. There are different activities, like trying to find the definition of a prefix, suffix, or given word. I learned that you don't need to use a dictionary to find a word if you know you prefixes, suffixes, and root words. I decided to put this activity on my website, because it was hilarious to see people acting out.
